Lions Roar In Lyon Season Opener

The ALFA Lions have added an extra ingredient of interest in the opening CNFA match in Lyon yesterday. In a season that has already shown a welcome evenness, the Lions big win over the Toulouse Hawks has added further intrigue.

Distance, time, travelling arrangements and a host of other factors can impact on a team’s performance and sometimes a hosting team can get a seriously large home ground advantage. But recognition of that alone does not do justice to the performances of host teams. The Lions’ score of 26 19 175 to the Hawks 5 10 40 says that even if the Hawks were down on the day, there is some very serious talent and fire power growing in Lyon.

Les Australiens sont tous fous d'un sport chelou : le footy

Sur les murs sont exposées une dizaine de photos en noir et blanc, encadrées et disposées avec soin. On y aperçoit des sportifs vêtus de drôles de débardeurs moulants tapant dans un ballon ressemblant à un ballon de rugby. Lorenzo s'approche, saisit une photo où pose un moustachu aux allures de Freddie Mercury. « Ça c'est Ken Sheldon, l'un des meilleurs joueurs de toute l'histoire de Carlton. En 1979, c'est lui qui nous a offert la victoire en finale, contre Colingwood. Un match incroyable, j'en ai encore des frissons ». Nous sommes dans le salon de coiffure de Lorenzo, situé à Carlton, le quartier italien de Melbourne, où se succèdent pizzerias et bars à vins.

3 Victoires à l'extérieur pour commencer !

C'est sous une belle journée ensoleillé que le Championnat de France s'est ouvert ce weekend. Pour l'occasion, nous avions le droit d'entrée à un remake de la Grande Finale 2016, au premier match officiel des Blagnac Aviators et à la première double journée de cette saison ! :) Et un club qui retrouve la tête du championnat après plus de 3 ans...

Un avant goût de la saison 2016-2017!!!

For this week’s ‘Match of the Round’ we caught up with CNFA President, Alban Schieber, and got his thoughts about the upcoming season and the teams competing ahead of tomorrow with round 1 kick offs.

This season is quite special for us as it will be played between October and April when we usually play until mid-June. The reason is quite simple and quite exiting as well for all the players: we will have our Grand Final in the Stade Jean Bouin in Paris. Our 2017 Grand Final will be the curtain raiser of the last Top 14 game between Paris and Racing Metro 92. 

Another thing that will make this coming season so special is that for the first time ever, every single team competing in the 2016/2017 Leo Lagrange Championship has a real chance to run for the premiership or at least the semi-finals. In fact, all clubs have been doing a good job over the summer to get numbers, fitness and competitive players.

A Lille, le football australien sort enfin ses griffes !!!

Suite à la fermeture officielle du club des Brittany Griffins suite au départ du président et coach Arnaud Deleurme après seulement un an d'existence, une nouvelle équipe s’appuyant sur l’expérience de ce dernier atterri dans la Capitale du département du Nord sous le nom des "Lille Eagles" .
